Old Oregon Smoke House in Rockaway Beach

Probably the best seafood I've had in Tillamook County, maybe even in the northern Oregon coast. I had the crab melt and that's literally what it did, melted in my mouth with a very pleasant garlicky, buttery compliment. The clam chowder was on point. Small menu, but there is nothing on it I wouldn't try.

The owner and staff were unbelievably great! They went out of their way to help us and make sure we were fed. On top of that, the food was fantastic. Don't let the outside appearance dissuade you from eating here. This is place is a Must if you are in the area.

Amazing food and layout of the restaurant. It looks old but the food flatters you.

Great food, fun laid-back atmosphere. We had the clam chowder-very good, the clam strips-also very good, the crab melt-delicious, and bought smoked salmon with garlic and spices to eat on bagels the next morning-delicious. Will definitely return if we are in Rockaway Beach again.

I love this place. One of the best clam chowders I've ever had. It's not a restaurant but they do have tables to sit at outside. They have a great variety of hot sauces to choose from. Here's one we bought. The smokehouse sits back in a cubby next to the US Bank in Rockaway. Enjoy.

Unfriendly staff. Very expensive for what you get. Pulled pork was full of fat. Wouldn't eat here again.

Awesome little place to eat! My family and I tried it out today, and got an order of clam-strips and crab cake. Everything was AMAZING! The portions are great, and both came with a generous amount of fries. I think the best part, is that the crab cake, was actually a crab cake. Some restaurants tend to cut corners with crab cakes and served mostly meal filler... Not Old Oregon Smoke House, the crab was so delicious, especially with the cashew dipping sauce!

The food was very good. Had clam strips. They were big and meaty and plenty of them in my order. The tarter and fry sauces were real good. The chowder was good but part way thru eating it all the chowder thinned out. Not sure what happened there but had good flavor.The gem was the crab cocktail. The cocktail sauce was the right amount of spice to it and the crab meat was really tasty and sweet.This is a good stop on your way thru Rockaway!

This place is not your pristine clean dining place but worth it all for their clam chowder. Everything else seemed to be deep fried but happily enjoyed none the less. An Oregon Coast treasure.

Not pleased with the overcooked fish. After reading all the good reviews we were very disappointed. Maybe it's just the Covid thing right now.

This place is awesome. Walk up and order counter with Limited menu. But they do it right. Be exceptional at a few things instead of just ok at a bunch. The crab melt was unbelievable like none I've had before just packed with meat and cheese. For the size it's actually a lot and its fatty and heavy. So, I recommend going with a friend ordering two different items and splitting 👍 Chowder is great. They were out of bread bowls though, if your going to boast the best chowder on the coast you can't run out. But, they made us some bomb garlic bread to go with it instead...good save. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. And, it's Reasonable price for how much meat you get.

The clam chowder I really love. I really think it's the best I've had. I didn't love the fish and chips but it was still good. I loved the crab cake, they run out of that one pretty fast for a reason.

The crab melt was fantastic (I won't deny that)! We also got the cod and chips and it was just meh. I've had many better fish and chips. It was edible but it wasn't great. You also had to eat it with a fork. What bothered me most was that many of the cooking staff outside and people bringing the food out to people either were not wearing masks, were not wearing masks properly (noses out or were pulling them down to talk to a customer), or they were taking them on and off.

Clam chowder is great! The secret is out though and during busy times the line can be long.

Great hole in the wall spot for fresh fried seafood. We got the Cod fish n chips, fried clams, popcorn shrimp, and medium clam chowder to share between 2 of us; it was easily enough food for 3-4 people. Every fried item came with thick cut fries, coleslaw, and plenty of sauces. Line wasn't too bad for us, but we were there pretty late and some of the people in front of us were waiting almost an hour for their food. This has been pretty normal though, with most places closed or at capacity due to COVID.Definitely recommend.

Loved it! Picnicking style lunch. Very nice customer service. Fresh seafood, fast service. Mostly deep fried seafood.

Fantastic chowder. Great fish and chips. Selections sell out. Outdoor seating only. They have their own smokers on site unlike other places that pretend to smoke their meat.

The kids seemed to like the fish & chips and chicken strips. A little soggy (maybe from the to-go packaging). I didn't care for the BBQ beef sandwich. The BBQ sauce wasn't great and it seemed very overpriced, especially since I asked for no coleslaw. I think it was $15 for something that maybe should have been $6-$8. The very small shack-type establishment seemed dirty.

We went here for the first time and got a crab melt, a lobster melt, fries and clam chowder. And let me tell you, everything was absolutely decadent. Both the crab and lobster melts held true to their name as they melted in your mouth. The flavors were exquisite. The fries are fat, crunchy and perfectly salty. And the clam chowder is the best I've ever had. Eat here!!

If you eat seafood and love fried things, then this is the place for you! Good food, good service and the outdoor seating area is also really nice.

Decent place for the limited options in Rockaway. Small place, order at the counter. Rather pricy for all fish n chip items, but portions are large.

This place was amazing- the kind of food gem we hoped to discover while visiting Rockaway! The clam chowder was so good (and I don't even like clam chowder!) My husband and I both ordered crab melts and think it was the best meal of our trip! So much flavor! If you want a coastal comfort food meal, this is the stop for you!

When it comes to fish and chips, seafood and clam chowders I am very picky. I hate doughy fried fish and overfried chips. I think chowders should be creamy with lots of ingredients not just potatoes.At Old Oregon Smoke House I had the best gastronomic experience. Words are never enough to describe my experiences so I will always include photos of my escapades especially when it comes to food. This restaurant is family owned and operated and from sauces to coleslaw everything was homemade. I was having such orgasmic moment just savouring the creamy taste of the large clam chowder, which 4 people can actually share. The fried halibut was lightly battered and melts in your mouth yummy. I look forward to my next trip to Rockaway and you can bet your flippers I will be dining and trying out other specialties at the Old Oregon Smoke House.

Excellent cod and chips, oysters and chips, and clam chowder. Got live Netart Bay oysters to take home too and they were delicious! Friendly staff. Conveniently located right across from the Tillamook cheese factory, which was still closed on 7/3/20 due to Covid. And those that are worried about social distancing, their patio area has tables spaced far enough.

Delicious food! We got fish and chips (cod and halibut, cod was better), crab melt and some of the best clam chowder I've ever had!

The staff here is awesome! It was our first time so they let us sample a bunch of stuff before we decided. Landed on the halibut, which was delicious!

One of the best ready-to-eat fish sources in the north coast! For smoked fish, their Tillamook branch has more selection. Both locations are excellent for getting your seafood fix!

We've been vacationing to Rockaway Beach a few years now and this is the first time we visited this place. Boy it didn't disappoint! Amazing clam chowder, fish and chips but the crab melt was the bomb! 💣 You have to come in during the lunch rush otherwise you might miss out (the food that uses bread sells out quickly). Your taste buds will thank you!! 🤤

Great food, good price. Most of the seafood meals are deep fried. Very good portions and really authentic little place. Recommended. (Missing a star because it could be cleaner)

Great location just across from rockaway beach and next to ice cream too and the train. Cute outdoor seating. Had the halibut and chips and my oh my was it super bomb! Everything is prepped to go at this time however with covid, u can still sit and eat it there and its ready to go too. So good! Plan to make this a regular stop now everytime I'm out that way.

Some of the best seafood on the coast. Reasonably priced. Coleslaw is amazing! Clam chowder was so good.

Food is good but place isn't very clean in kitchen -My son worked there a few years ago and advised me to be very careful. I have had fish and chips from there 2 times and they were good

We went there for the crab and the lobster melt. But they only have them on Friday. We tried the halibut and the salmon dip and both were good.

Fish and chips were excellent! Huge portions, crispy fish and fries!

If you don’t give this place five stars you are just lying. I love everything about it. Atmosphere is great, the people are very polite and the food is amazing ... they are even dog friendly and had treats. The Crab melt is a must. Granted, it is a bit pricey but absolutely worth it. I will come back here every time.

Good place for Fish and Chips but be prepared for a long line around noon.Service is friendly and food was good. I wish the FnC would have been a little crispier. We started waiting in line around 1145 and even though their hours start at 12, they didn't open before 1210PM
